the santas arrive

November 24, 2011

The annual tradition of bringing holiday decorations from hibernation reaches a crescendo in my heart when I come to the Santas.  There are so many that I can no longer corral them into a single grouping.  This year, a few will celebrate the season adorning the fireplace mantel.

A garland of home sweet homemade white paper bulbs accompanies them.

The stockings will find another resting spot this year and I’m sure that Santa, when he arrives, will have no trouble locating them.

Santa reminds me of the humble beauty beneath the joy of sharing.

And the simple hand made garland reminds me of the humble beauty of the season itself.

While I’ll always love a little (or a lot) of sparkle, I can’t help but think that Christmas started in the most humble of circumstances.  In a stable under a starlit winter’s night.

Sharing a heart full of seasonal joy.  Thank you for reading, and before you go, please don’t forget that Make it Merry (14 days and 14 fabulous DIY ideas) begins the day after Thanksgiving.  The whole itinerary is listed here.

So many things stated so perfectly in this post! From the crescendo in your heart, symbolism seen in Santa, and nod to the simplistic beginnings of Christmas. Your garland resonates the beginnings of Christmas in me. Simple, yet elegant. Neither understated, nor outlandish. They radiate the true spirit of Christmas.

Good morning, Diane, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING Day to you and Cristybella!

What a LOVELY post to read this morning while sipping my cup of java.

    Beautiful photos. Beautiful words.

“While I’ll always love a little (or a lot) of sparkle, I can’t help but think that Christmas started in the most humble of circumstances. In a stable under a starlit winter’s night.”

    Amen.

LOVE the shots of your mantel. That garland (as Carrie stated) is so simple, yet elegant.

    Like your ENTIRE home.

Enjoy your day, dear friend. And please know what a blessing it is to have you in my life.
