job one
three days after returning home from vacation, my unpacked suitcase still lies on the kitchen floor. First things first, right? Washing the kazillions of seashells in our luggage and figuring out what to do with them.
.
that last one is an ongoing challenge.
I call it collecting, but some might call it hoarding.
whatever.
.
Even though we have some lovely sand dollars, we’ve been very careful placing them throughout the house because they are so fragile. Cristybella mentioned on the flight home that she wished we had a clever way to arrange and display our sand dollar collection. So I started thinking.
I figured they might be less at risk if they were not in a position to be moved. I started with a short piece of driftwood and some strands of hemp and tied overhand knots in alternating pairs.
Then I tied sand dollars to the hemp strands with thread and interspersed small pieces of coral, shells and short strands of beads.
Hanging in the hallway just outside the study, we’ll be able to enjoy it constantly.
I love it!
.
Unfortunately, I still have to unpack and do laundry.
.
And I still have to figure out what to do with the other two dozen sand dollars.
Ideas welcome 🙂
“Unfortunately, I still have to unpack and do laundry.”
Oh, that can wait because LOOK at what you did with these beautiful sand dollars!!!
Honestly, Diane, you totally blow me away with your creative genius!
Love what you did with the driftwood, hemp strands, and beads. AND the little touch of coral!
You done good, girl. No, better than good. You did faaaaaaaaaabulous!
Hope you and Cristybella had a lovely weekend!
Much X to you both!
hi Ron 🙂 thank you for your constant and unwavering support. You are always so sweet about my little projects. I’m not sure if it’s the poorly lit space, but I’m less enthused about this sand dollar thingy than I was when it was still in my head. Might need to start rethinking the concept to make it bolder. happy wishes for your week ahead!
Are you kidding me? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
Three days back and you’ve created that masterpiece work of love?!
You’re kidding me, right?
Three days back and I’m still trying to find my rearend from where I lost it over the Rocky Mountains. *sigh* Not kidding!!
Wow.
You’re GOOD.
Of course…….I’da had the laundry done. LOLOL
Welcome back, oh creative genius!
you’re so funny Mel! the way your comment started, I thought I was going to catch holy crap for not doing the laundry 🙂
Finally got around to it, partially, last night.
But now that I’m looking at this thingy hanging in the hallway, I really don’t like it as much as I did before.
Probably will have to change it. Sometime later.
xo!
I call it ‘collecting’ too!
Thought of you today when I saw these sea glass pieces of art – I could SO see you doing something inspired by these.
