in the mood

October 3, 2012

in the spirit of full disclosure….I’ve been window shopping online.  for Christmas trees.

I’m in the mood.  There is a calendar in my head that charts the path to Christmas decorations beginning with the day immediately following Hallowe’en.  The trees will be decorated by Thanksgiving and I’ll have a full month afterwards to enjoy the sparkling wonder.

So, I’m prototyping a few new ideas for pretty paper tree ornaments.  You know, just in case I decide to get another tree 🙂

these are paper circles cut from light cardboard packaging (cereal box).  I brushed on some metallic paint, added a bead and looped heavy embroidery thread around the rings.

I’m also experimenting with a hex shape, but I’m partial to the floating effect of the rings.

.

I’m considering a silver tinsel tree.  Too over the top?  I think I might like it, but I’m just not sure…..

Many many more ideas for decorations coming up soon – there’s just not enough hours in the day!

.

Thank you for dropping by!

*chuckling* Somehow I knew the ornaments were forming somewhere.
I actually sifted through holiday stuff in search of black ribbon the other day–wondering if I should get a head start–or if I oughta just relax and enjoy the season that is.
I opted for the latter–and at a piece of Halloween candy. LOL

I like the floaty circle ones, but I really, really like the blue colour.
Maybe a floaty circle one in blue!
I’m not so much keen on the tinsel tree in this house…but in yours–ohhhhh……great fun!

I LOVE that you’re in the mood already!

” The trees will be decorated by Thanksgiving and I’ll have a full month afterwards to enjoy the sparkling wonder.”

That’s a VERY smart plan, Diane, because this way you can sit back and just enjoy!

    WOW….these ornaments are BEYOND awesome!

“these are paper circles cut from light cardboard packaging (cereal box).”

    How genius of you!

I’m totally lovin’ the ones with the floating effect of the rings!

“I’m considering a silver tinsel tree. Too over the top?”

No, I don’t think so at all. In fact, I think these ornaments would really POP against the silver. So, go for it, girl!

When I was a kid we had a silver tinsel tree for a few years, instead of the traditional tree, and it was fun!

Thanks so much for giving us a peek into your holiday creations!

Much X to you and Cristybella!
