things I love – imaginative photography

June 9, 2011

For my lovely Cristybella’s 50th birthday, my creatively talented sister-in-law made a gigantic photo pinboard for her dear little sis and filled it with a lifetime of photographs.  It is a nostalgic and sweet collection of moments in history combined with moments of Cristy’s life.

Lately I’ve seen some other photographic creativity.  Like this inspired creation by Tracy at Trinkets & Treasures.  She used a photograph composed by a dear friend, so this piece has very special meaning.

Years ago, I saw the work of an artist who began using a photographic transfer process onto canvas, morphing it into a mixed media collage.  The results were brilliant.  Here is a wonderful example from More Than Photography (including step-by-step instructions!)

This next project, in particular, resonates with Cristy & me.  Hearts of all sorts, but especially those found in nature, are sprinkled throughout our home.  I’m definitely going to borrow this idea (from the Living Crafts Blog).

And speaking of hearts, I’ve seen several variations of a heart-shaped collage composed of individual photographs.  This image is courtesy of sim.’s photostream via Flickr.

So, jus-sayin.  One or more photo projects might be in the works.  Or at least under consideration and vying for a spot on the schedule of possible future projects.  You know what I mean.

Thank you so much for dropping by!

i wanted to respond to the thoughtful comment you left for me about my dad. i so very much appreciate your kind words, and since you don’t have an email linked to your blog account, i visited again. and i am super glad i did, b/c the images of the hearts you’ve found in nature remind me of the stone i have displayed in my living room.

we recently went on a trip, and when walking on the beach to figure out where our spot would be, i randomly looked down and spied this heart shaped rock. i protected it by packing it in a shoe when we flew to our next location, and then to home! don’t you feel special coming across something like that, lol!
