blue feathered friend

May 20, 2011

our little backyard parakeet seems to be making a home here.  While the birdie hasn’t let us touch her, she is not terribly bothered by humans.  Cristybella has a special way with animals, and I predict that it will not be long before the parakeet (budgie) hops onto her finger.

Cristy keeps a close eye on her and has noticed that she likes to take a little siesta in the late afternoon.  She was ready to nod off in these photos.

Isn’t she adorable?  We’re smitten.

Hi Jane, it would seem that she got away from her home. We’re obviously concerned about her and are hoping to get her back into a safe environment. Right now the weather here is tolerable for this bird and she seems to be doing ok. Thanks for your comment & let us know if you have any advice 🙂

She is very sweet. Hopefully Cristy will manage to get close enough to perform her rescue as she is an escapee. It is good that she has found a safe haven, other birds tend not to like them very much and have a go if they move to open space. It could well be an escaped aviary bird so perhaps setting food/water inside some kind of cage with the door open may work over time.
