stacked paper garland

January 15, 2011

After taking down the Christmas lovelies, there were some sad empty spaces in the house.  So I had been on the hunt for a new banner or garland to help add a touch of modern liveliness.  This is the result of the effort, courtesy of 2 picture calendars and the pages of an annual report (excellent paper quality).

Colorful paper slice on one side and a printed slice on the other, all threaded together with a strand of nylon twine.

Reminds me of wind chimes and the finished product more resembles a work of modern art than a paper garland.

Overall, I’m satisfied with the results.  However, if my intent were to decorate for a party, I would definitely select (purchase) brightly colored paper instead of using my on-hand supply.  This muted blend of colors happens to tie in nicely.

Plus it was easy.

Plus, it didn’t cost a thing.

What a great idea, I like your choice of paper. You could do this for any season just by changing out the paper….very cute.
Thanks for sharing and thanks for visiting with me.

    Hi Diane-

I so want to do this – I love how you can use used paper or the pretty solid colors that I saw in one of your previous posts. They look easy to make, but can add so much impact. I am going start saving my paper.
    My best- Diane

I love the modern look of your vertical garlands, and the fact that you used materials that you had on hand to make something so artful! Thank you for taking part in another “A Little Birdie Told Me…” I love the quality and style that you bring to the table each week!
