The ancient adding machine, the abacus, is a functional thing of beauty.  We picked one up at the Hong Kong Market recently.

CB2 has a wonderful twist on the abacaus as a piece of home decor.  My desire is to create something equally as inspired for our office/guest room.

I have two empty black frames, but no abacus beads.  Yet.

The international gem and jewelry show will be here at the end of the month.  The perfect place for finding all sorts of pretty beads.

Perhaps this time, next month, a finished product will be hanging on the wall. 🙂

gosh I hope so! and I’m hoping to find a good value on pretty beads at the gem show, this is clearly going to be an unusual way to frame a group of beads. Thank you for visiting!

Oh, I can’t wait to see how this turns out. The two frames look perfect for this project!

And speaking of an abacaus, while I was living in Japan for a summer I went to very contemporary and modern restaurant where the waitress actually added up our check using an abacaus – no kidding! And it was so interesting to see how fast she worked that thing. It was like stepping back in time!

Have a great weekend, dear friend.

P.S. Love your new avatar photo. You’re so pretty!
